XookSuut a code for modeling circular and non–circular flows on 2D velocity maps [GA]

We present XookSuut, a tool designed to model circular and noncircular flows on resolved velocity maps, such as IFS data or HI~data. XookSuut performs nonparametric fits to derive kinematic models without assuming analytical functions on the different velocity components of the models. This tool is useful to recover the circular and radial motions in galaxies in dynamical equilibrium. It is also useful to derive the non-circular motions induced by oval distortions, such as that produced by stellar bars. XookSuut combines a chi–square analysis and a Metropolis-Hastings method to converge to the most-likely model based on the posterior probability. The code has its best performance in galaxies with inclination angles ranging between $25^\circ<i<75^\circ$. Among the different parameters derived by the code, the larger errors are produced in the estimation of the bar position angle $\pm5^{\circ}$. XookSuut is an alternative program among the different ones focused on the kinematic analysis of galaxies. Finally, being written in Python language, one of the most popular languages in the astronomical community nowadays, it is simple to distribute, install and implement in any analysis package.
