Stellar moving groups in the solar neighbourhood carry important information on the non-axisymmetric structures of the Galaxy. Nevertheless, not all moving groups are necessarily linked to the dynamical effects of the bar and spiral arms. In this letter, we confirm with RAVE and TGAS an observation recently made with the GALAH survey concerning the Coma Berenices moving group, namely that it is only present at negative Galactic latitudes. We moreover show that it is coherent in vertical velocity W. It is therefore unlikely to be associated with a spiral arm or bar resonance. Irrespective of its actual dynamical origin, we estimate from dynamical arguments based on incomplete phase-mixing that the moving group must have formed at most ~ 1.5 Gyr ago. This could be related to a pericentric passage of the Sagittarius dwarf satellite galaxy.
