Frequency variation for in vacuum photon propagation in Standard Model Extensions [CL]

http://arxiv.org/abs/1904.11035

In the presence of Lorentz Symmetry Violations (LSVs) associated to Standard Model Extensions (SMEs), we have recently shown the non-conservation of the energy-momentum tensor of a light-wave crossing an electro-magnetic background field even when constant. Herein, we infer that in a particle description, the energy variation for a photon implies violation of frequency invariance in vacuum, appearing as red or blue shift. We discuss the potential consequences on cosmology.
