We show that the cosmic background of high energy neutrinos recently discovered with the IceCube detector is compatible with that expected from hadronic collisions near source and in the intergalactic medium of the very high energy cosmic rays accelerated in supernova explosions by their non relativistic spherical ejecta and their highly relativistic jets that produce gamma ray bursts.
